Our house

When I found out in January that I had to go to NYC for a couple of months Taylor and I were already under contract to buy a new townhouse. Luckily we had a really good real estate agent (my best big bro) who helped to make the process easy for us, even from the other side of the country. We ended up doing the closing from our apartment in NY, so when we came home we had a new place to live that we were seeing finished for the first time (it was new construction and Jeremy did the walk-through for us).

This is our kitchen, which is SO much better than our old kitchen at our apartment. The door you can see goes out onto our first deck. Upstairs is deck #2 outside of our bedroom. Why would any two people such as us need two decks you might ask? We're not sure, but we've got em. I am loving the space and the openness of our new home.





We have loved living here and pretending to be grown-ups who own our own place.













This is our guest/game room. As you can see we have got double-shot basketball set up in there. We have yet to set up our dart board and air hockey table. I took this picture from the top bunk of the bunk beds so if any of you ever want to stay with us this is what you have to look forward to :)

Bees game

We went to the Bees game on Saturday with Cassie, Noelle, Trent, Maxon, Devan, Christofer and Radley. It was HOT and muggy at the game! The Bees won very easily and the game was real fun.

BELLA

So we dog-sat Nicole's dog Bella for the last few days while Nicole has been in Asia with her folks and Mindy. Bella is in her terrible twos I think. She is a cute dog, but in this unfamiliar house she didn't quite know what to do with herself. We just barely traded custody with Cassie, who will keep Bella for the remainder of Nicole's trip. Taylor didn't want to get hair all over his suit so he is holding her away from him; deep down he loves her and wishes we could be her permanent parents.

Grand Canyon

We went to the Grand Canyon last week with Taylor's whole family. We had SO MUCH fun! We camped for four nights. Taylor's dad served his mission in that area on Indian reservations so we visited some of his areas, a cool museum, an old volcano site and also some old cool pueblos. This picture is of Taylor and me with all the nieces and nephews. Please notice the shirts. We all had matching shirts this day; the guys in yellow, the girls in pink. It has a big tree with little birdhouses with all of our names on them. Some of my favorite memories of when I was younger are when my family would go on family vacations and we would get some sort of matching shirts. When we have kids we will DEFINITELY get matching shirts for the whole family when we go on our vacations!
On our way down to Arizona to meet up with the family we stopped in Blanding for a couple of days. My mom was in France so hopefully we helped my dad to be a little less lonely while we were there. We love to spend time in Blanding hanging out with Kristi, Jeremy and their kids. Also, my parents have five of the cutest little Shi-Tzu puppies right now and we LOVE to play with them. After we came back from the Grand Canyon trip we stopped in Blanding again; this time my mom had gotten home. We stayed for the weekend. On Saturday we went four-wheeling near Lake Powell with my parents and Jeremy and Kristi. It was a lot of fun, as always. Taylor is definitely sold on all the benefits of living in Blanding. Unfortunately after all our fun family time we had to return to real life in the big city.

*I cleaned up Bella’s poop and pee all over my kitchen (dogsitting for Nicole)
*I watched the Celtics humiliate Kobe :)

Today...
*I worked all day
*I registered Taylor’s new truck
* I cleaned up Bella’s poop and pee all over my kitchen

Tomorrow...
*I will work all day
*I will go to the temple with Kacey and Joe (and Taylor of course)
*I will clean up Bella’s poop and pee all over my kitchen and then turn her over to Cassie for the remainder of Nicole’s vacation

In the next year...
*I will probably not have a kid but you never know
*I will figure out a way to live in Blanding
*I will talk Taylor into letting me get a dog

Manhattan Temple

We were lucky enough to go to the Manhattan Temple a couple of times while in NY. This temple looks so different on the outside than all of the other temples I've seen, but once you're inside it's exactly the same. Turns out the church is true everywhere you go. We loved NY and hope to be able to go back to visit soon.

My office

Taylor took this picture from the Staten Island Ferry. On the left side the tallest building you see was my office building where I worked every day. To the right of my building, if you look closely, you can see the Statue of Liberty and then on the right side you can see downtown Manhattan which is where our apartment was located. It was so surreal to live and work around so many famous landmarks. No matter where we went we felt like we had to take a million pictures.

NYSE

No trip to NYC would be complete without checking out Wall Street. Here is the famous New York Stock Exchange. New York has such a cool energy and the Financial District especially is busy busy busy!

The Lymans come to NYC

My family came to visit us in New York. It was a big group; my parents came, along with Marilyn, Kristi, Noelle and Josh. Kera was nannying in New York so she also came and hung out with us for a couple of days (I didn't get any pictures with all nine of us). Squeezing nine people into a small apartment (I would guess 500 sq ft) was very interesting, but so fun! There was the bed in the bedroom, the couch made out into a bed and then air beds on every other inch of available floor. It worked out perfectly and the nine of us were able to peacefully share one bathroom. We did so many fun things during their visit and we were all exhausted the whole time but it was so great. This is all of us, minus Kera, on top of the Rockefeller Center. We had awful weather for most of their visit but luckily we had a clear night to go to the top of the Rock.

The Harrison

There was a restaurant very close to our apartment called "The Harrison". Since we are the Harrisons we figured we better check this place out to make sure they were doing justice to the name. Taylor and I, with his parents, ate dinner there one night. With how expensive it was we could really only afford to go there once but it was really really good food. We didn't know what half of the items on the menu were but we all lucked out and picked good stuff.

Taylor's parents visited us for a few days in NY and this is Taylor with them while we waited for our train to come so we could go to church. As you can tell Taylor took a vacation from shaving for a while.

This is a bird with only one leg that we saw when my family visited...it just seemed like this picture should make the cut for our blog.

The BIG Piano

Nicole and Cassie came and visited me my first weekend in New York and thank goodness they did! I was missing Taylor a lot so it was so nice to have them there to keep me company. I had to work part of the time that they were there so they found their way around the city and then they showed me how to get around over the weekend. We did lots of fun stuff and I wished that they never had to leave. We went to the huge toy store, FAO Schwarz, and we got to play on the real BIG piano! On a side note, we also went there when my family came to visit and we saw John & Kate Plus 8! The whole family was doing a little toy shopping. SO CUTE! (If you've never seen or heard of their TLC reality show then you have no idea what I'm talking about right now)

New York New York!

For my job with Goldman Sachs I had to spend about 10 weeks in New York City from the middle of January to the end of March for job training. It was such a great experience! I went out there alone and spent the first few weeks without Taylor. Then he came out in February and stayed for over 5 weeks. We had sooooooo much fun while we were there together. We had lots of visitors and it was so neat to be able to get the feel of living in downtown Manhattan without actually having to straight up move there. This is a picture of the apartment we stayed in. We were on the 32nd floor and we had an awesome view of the city. Taylor had to come back to Utah to go back to work and to move our stuff into our new house before the end of March so I spent the last 10 days by myself again. As fun as NY was it was great to come home.

Whoever told me I wouldn't still hang out with my high school friends after high school obviously didn't know how great my friends are! I have the best friends in the world and I always have! This is Kace, me, Nicole and Dev at Devan and Christofer's house.
